Spence as Mr. Belvedere

The King of Queens - The Complete Second SeasonI’m sitting here watching King of Queens, and it’s the episode where Doug’s (Kevin James) friend Spence (Patton Oswalt) becomes the houseboy for Doug’s other friend, Deacon (Victor Williams). And, all of the sudden, they do a bit where Spence is very Mr. Belevedere-like and play they theme song to the show. Very fun for me. :D

I was sad to hear that King of Queens will be ending this May. It’s had a good run, and has cracked me up for years. In a world dominated by reality shows, though, the sitcom seems to be having a hard time keeping the attention of Americans in the prime time spots. I’m gonna miss this one.

I remember when it first came on and I kept looking at the main character, Carrie Heffernan (Leah Remini), trying to figure out why she seemed familiar to me. I finally realized that she was Samantha’s (Alyssa Milano) friend from the old neighborhood on Who’s the Boss. Man, I loved that show!

btw: Have you voted in the Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones poll in the pink sidebar on the right? Please do! Thanks. :)

I just finished watching this episode with my wife. I totally cracked up when they started playing the theme song to Mr. Belvedere. I got turned on to this show by a friend that told me I reminded him of Kevin James on this show. Also, Leah Remini was in a short lived sitcom called “Living Dolls” for awhile too.

Hey Mr. Bean: You remind someone of Doug Heferenan? Alright then, I’ve got to hear you do, “How ’bout a big bowl of SHUT IT STEW!?!” at our spring barbeque. That’s one of my favorite lines from the series. It pops up pretty often at our house! And I saw the Living Dolls thing while looking up the stuff for this post. I barely remembered it until my friend “talked about it” (in the comments on that post) and it all came back to me! Strange.

    Thanks for commenting! :)

Did you know this about Leah Remini?……she is not well liked. She is very demanding and expects things to be done for her. People in Hollywood have a hard time dealing with her and she doesn’t have many “real life” fans. I have heard this many times. I was even more turned off when she whined and complained during her wedding preparations that things weren’t perfect. Believe me when I tell you she’s a lazy, self-centered actress.

Doug: She makes me laugh, and I don’t have to deal with her interpersonally. I’m sure there are a lot of actors in Hollywood who are hard to deal with, and many who are characterized that way who really aren’t. I’ve never met her, I’m sure I never will. But she makes me laugh, and that’s good enough for my experience with her!

  5. Doug Says:

I agree. She’s funny on TV, but in her personal life no one wants to be around her.
