Rock Us Falco
While Falco was popular in Europe, the US only got one major hit from him: “Rock Me Amadeus.” Again, this is one of those songs you might get to hear on the occasional “one hit wonder” shows on the radio, or of course, you can follow the link to the album pictured and get a little taste it from Amazon.
Here’s the low-down from Wikipedia: “Rock Me Amadeus” is the title of a 1985 song by the Austrian pop star Falco. Music was composed by Rob and Ferdi Bolland and Falco, with lyrics co-written by Falco and the Bolland brothers. It was Falco’s only major hit in the United States, despite his popularity in Germany and his native Austria, and all over Europe. “Rock Me Amadeus” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 29, 1986. Falco is often considered a one-hit wonder in the United States because of the low ranking of his follow-up singles to “Rock Me Amadeus”. In the United Kingdom, the song hit number one on May 10, 1986, becoming the first single by an Austrian act to achieve that feat; in the UK, Falco is also often regarded as a one-hit wonder, although the follow-up “Vienna Calling” hit number ten.
