Red wine & intrigue
Images of red wine conjure up vignettes- a Tuscan villa, a platter of cheese, an evening spent in company of friends, the Godfather Trilogy. The Italian Mob just wouldn’t have that same refinement if they walked about in the movies holding a can of Schlitz.
Now, I realize that the first two movies of the trilogy were released prior to the 80s, and the third was released in 1990. Somehow, and maybe it was because of songs like ‘Red red wine’ by UB40, the Godfather movies seemed to just “fit” into the 80s.
Of course, it could just have been the influence of James Bond 007. A View to a Kill was released in 1985, with the title track performed by Duran Duran. (creepy bad guy: Christopher Walken; Hotty 007: Roger Moore)
With the hot summer months upon us in the Northern latitudes, it might be the perfect thing to relax with chilled bottle of wine, a fine cheese, company of friends, and espionage.

I know most people will quote Connery as their favorite Bond… But Roger Moore will always be Bond to me.
