In honor of the Christmas Day passing of the late, great James Brown, I present to you (via my new addiction, YouTube) the legendary 1983 performance of Eddie Murphy in the legendary SNL sketch, James Brown’s Celebrity Hot Tub Party. I don’t think a week passes in our house with out someone shouting out, “Too hot in the hot tub!”

Although the first two Rocky movies were released in the 1970’s, a few in the middle there were released in our beloved 80’s.
Did I even know there was a Rocky V?

Ah yes, 1988’s Christmas gift to us was a return to the Brady household to catch up on our favorite blended family.
I remember anticipating this special coming on, and wondering who was going to play the role of Cindy, since the actress who played her had overdosed and died. Since it’s been stuck in my head since my last post, I figured I’d make you suffer along with me. Actually, I really like this theme song, and it’s fun to see all of the characters again. Jo (Joanna Marie Polniaczek—and I remembered all of that, except for the spelling of the last name—scary) was too, too cool. I loved the Facts of Life (and immediately the theme song is now playing in my head), and the friendship between Natalie and Tootie was particularly fun. The two younger girls always wanting to be cool and fun like their older roommates was something I could relate to.
Well, one of those young girls is soon to be a mommy! Kim Fields, who played the adorable Tootie so perfectly, is due to have a baby in May.

I’m starting to love YouTube, can you tell?
This theme came to mind and, whaddya know, there it was for my viewing pleasure. I don’t even think that the VCR was all that popular yet when this show was on. Who knew a few decades later we could press a few keys on our laptop computers, access a website via our wireless connection, and conjure up just about any 80’s TV theme that we wanted? Would’ve sounded a bit like sci-fi back then (does still a little now to me!).

So, I went hunting for that Folgers commercial from the 80’s where Peter, I think is his name, comes home and surprises his mom for Christmas. Remember that one? Where he wakes up his mom with the smell of fresh Folgers brewing? Right. Well, I didn’t find it. BUT, all is not lost. Here’s an 80’s Folgers commercial featuring Scott Bakula.
