Europe’s The Final Countdown
Yes, I can. I can admit that Europe’s The Final Countdown was one of my favorite 80’s albums. I remember taking my birthday check from my godmother to go out and buy this cassette all on my own. I was so proud to own it. Even as I’m writing this, I can hear the synthesized music streaming through my brain. Too fun.
What’s your favorite big hair band album?

They were good………once upon a time……….to listen to their old songs now is embarrasing.

they are still good today as they were in the 80’s .
you can’t say that about a lot of bands. very few I would say.
listening to their old songs is fun for me. I don’t get embarrased about it. now if I were still interested in listening to something like the Culture Club nowadays, that would be a reason to be embarrased!

Lisa: Yeah, Bon Jovi is still good. I can’t not sing along with them if they come on my mix station.
Doug: I’m not embarrassed. I’m happy to belt it out along with them anytime. :D

Aren’t they the ones that had the song Carrie?
I heard that on the radio the other day and couldn’t believe I remembered EVERY word.
Ahhh the good old days cruising around in my mauve colored Chevette listing to my hot new cassettes LOL
And with BIG BIG hair to boot!

White Lion is another favorite!
I loved - Bon Jovi - Motley Crue - Warrent - Skid Row - Bad Company - Firehouse
*sighs*
I actually got to meet Motely Crue on my birthday (2001). I was SO disappointed to see how OLD they look now.

[…] That’s okay, Jon, it was worth it for all of us to have been a witness to that beautiful mane of yours. Plus, I think Europe had something to contribute there as well. […]

Gayla: Yes, they sang Carrie, to me, of course. Though they did spell my name wrong. ;) They also sang, “Cherokee” which taught me more about the “trail of tears” than any history class I took. Sad, aye?
And, yes, I love White Lion!!!! I actually downloaded the CD to my iTunes, and still listen to it occasionally. It cracks Bald Man up. :)

[…] I have way too much fun watching Europe perform. I honestly think there’s more hairspray and makeup going on in this one show than I’ll use in all my life. Technorati Tags: 80s music, big hair bands, Europe, The Final Countdown Add to: November 9th, 2006 | Permalink | No Comments » […]
