Bob Saget is set to host the new game show “1 vs 100“. It’s the next show in line from the creators of the mega-hit game show, Deal or No Deal hosted by comedian Howie Mandel. The show will air on NBC and premieres Friday the 13th of October.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Some Kind of Wonderful. Love it! Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Lea Thompson in a love triangle for all the ages. Why don’t I own this movie?
Anyway, I’m flipping channels tonight and come across Celebrity Duets. Crazy little show hosted by Wayne Brady. I didn’t much like Wayne’s (can I call you Wayne?) talk show, but he does still crack me up.

I love Pop Rocks! I was so excited to see them again recently. Though I’m not sure why the most reliable place for me to find Pop Rocks is at Jo-Ann Fabrics. Odd.
But the best part is getting to introduce my kids to them. They get a kick out of the feeling, almost as much as I do. Too fun. Although KFC almost beat me to the punch when they paired Pop Rocks with Mott’s Applesauce in their kids’ meals. We never had cool stuff like that!

Hair bands in the 80s came in all varieties. You could find plain hair elastics and elaborate fabric & floof concoctions, and everything inbetween. Hair Bands also refers to the music genre Glam metal. I don’t think we called it “glam metal” back then, but that’s the label I found attached to the groups which came to mind as I was doing a bit of research for this post (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Guns N Roses, Twisted Sister, Pantera, Ratt, among others). More specifically, ten speed bicycles. A sign that you had passed a milestone in growing up was graduating from a banana-seat bike with long handlebars, one speed, and back-peddling to brake; to a ten speed, ten different speeds and braking power at the hand grips! Ten speeds were ubiquitous, and while you can still find them, other road bikes have gained in popularity (most notably the mountain bike). Anyone looking at the youth in the 80s probably didn’t notice how many were wearing bracelets of string and yarn around wrists and ankles. Friendship bracelets were quite the rage for a while, and as with all fashion, faded into the background again. These bracelets ranged from a simple braid, to complex weaving complete with beads. Many of us who made them felt rather proud to create something in between.

Mid-1980s, the answer to a need for a quick pick-me-up was Jolt Cola.

Flavor options: one. Caffeine: touted as double a regular cola.

This beverage quickly became a favorite option on roadtrips, although when not chilled it required a fair amount of willpower to drink. I haven’t tried the current version, though it does indeed sound invigorating. Jolt has revamped their packaging

The Material Girl is quoted in the Mirror as saying that, by today’s standards, she was too fat when she was just starting out. She thinks she wouldn’t have been able to compete with today’s skinnier pop stars.
“I would have been too fat,” she claims.
“When I started out I was kind of zaftig (Yiddish term for plump). I would have had to get anorexia.
“They would have said: ‘She is way too chubby’.”
Madonna fat?!? Not then, and certainly not now.
