Peggy Sue and the Three Stooges

Peggy Sue and the Three Stooges

So, I was talking to my friend Jackie the other day. She made a snarky comment on one of my posts (soooo unlike her, yeah right), and I said, “Why I oughta…” Partly, I’m sure, because Jonic had said it to me the day before, and it was apparently still stuck in my head. Anyway, (I did have a point here, right?), it immediately made Jackie think of Peggy Sue Got Married. I told her I always thought of The Honeymooners, thinking it was one of Ralph Kramden’s (Jackie Gleason) famous lines. Research has …read more

Living Dolls

Living Dolls

Did you know that there was a spin-off of Who’s the Boss? called Living Dolls? I don’t remember this at all, but it was apparently launched off of a Who’s the Boss? episode entitled, “Living Dolls”.
The short-lived program starred Micheal Learned, Leah Remini (who appeared in the WTB episode) and Halle Berry (who did not appear in the WTB episode).

A Very Brady Christmas

A Very Brady Christmas

Ah yes, 1988’s Christmas gift to us was a return to the Brady household to catch up on our favorite blended family.
I remember anticipating this special coming on, and wondering who was going to play the role of Cindy, since the actress who played her had overdosed and died. A certain maternal figure in my life had told me that was the case and I believed her absolutely. She was never wrong, right? One of my friends kept saying it wasn’t true, but I was sticking to the story I’d heard first.
So, the special comes on and …read more

Scott Bakula Folgers Commercial

Scott Bakula Folgers Commercial

So, I went hunting for that Folgers commercial from the 80’s where Peter, I think is his name, comes home and surprises his mom for Christmas. Remember that one? Where he wakes up his mom with the smell of fresh Folgers brewing? Right. Well, I didn’t find it. BUT, all is not lost. Here’s an 80’s Folgers commercial featuring Scott Bakula. Who knew he was so sensitive to caffeine? Enjoy.

80’s Contribution to the Christmas Carol

80’s Contribution to the Christmas Carol

Generations of poets and composers have created some of the most beautiful songs of all time. Included among these are the traditional Christmas carols of Away in a Manger, What Child is This?, Silent Night, and God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman. And what did the great decade of the 1980’s contribute to this list of fine aural pleasures? That’s right, you guessed it (or you just looked at the picture, cheater), Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.
Yep, that’s right, the song about, “the blue and silver candles that would just have matched the hair in grandma’s …read more

Gooniewear

Gooniewear

Still looking for the perfect gift for that child of the 80’s on your shopping list? You can’t go wrong with this Goonies inspired Truffle Shuffle t-shirt. Who wouldn’t be proud to show up in this for the office Christmas party?
Okay, so now you know that it’s best that I work from home in my pajamas. But still, I wonder how many images of the memories of our youth can be found plastered on the front of a $20 t-shirt. Odd. I shall begin the quest for the answer.
In the meantime, is someone …read more

I stink at trivia…

I stink at trivia…

I mentioned earlier that I was going to be playing the Trivial Pursuit: Totally 80s game. Last weekend, I got my chance. I’ll tell you what, there’s a whole lot of useless information pertaining to the 80’s! More than I could have imagined. Yeah, I probably did better on it than I would have done playing the original Trivial Pursuit game, but still ended up feeling like an idiot when all was said and done.
I really thought I’d read somewhere that one of the game pieces was a Rubik’s Cube, but no. In fact, this …read more

Twenty-two years of WrestleMania?

Twenty-two years of WrestleMania?

Really? Are you kidding me? Yeah, I’m feeling really old now. I remember the beginning of WrestleMania, when it was still a production with WWF members, not the WWE.
Why did I even know about it? My brother made me watch it. It’s the only reason I was so familiar with Hulk Hogan, The Iron Sheik, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Koko B. Ware, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and all the others. I even saw a few of them in person. How many of us can say we saw Bobby Heenan wrestle? Or Miss Elizabeth …read more

Russia Develops 80’s Sitcoms

Russia Develops 80’s Sitcoms

Apparently, our shows of yesterday are finding audiences in the Russia of today. The idea is to take the premise of shows such as Perfect Strangers, Suddenly Susan, and Step by Step, but to reshoot with new actors.
From CNN:
…the first episode of the Russian version of “Perfect Strangers” debuted a week ago on Ren TV. Mismatched roommates Larry and Balki have become Ivan (Artem Semakin) and Andrei (Anton Eldarov). Andrei arrives from his remote ex-Soviet republic and moves straight into the flat of his Moscow cousin, Ivan, where cultures clash between the two dissimilar characters.
I’m not sure how good …read more
