80’s Stars on Medium

Medium - The Complete First SeasonI usually don’t catch Medium, for some reason I always forget when it’s on. It’s a pretty good show, but my main motivation for watching it is so that I know what the heck’s going on when I head over to read Sheila’s b5 blog, Medium Dreams, which is about the show. She cracks me up, and it’s a good reason to check her out over there. And I did happen to catch it tonight. :)

What the heck does this have to do with The 80’s Club, you ask? Well, this episode featured one of my favorite 80’s moody/confused/frustrated/angst-filled teens, Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Alan Ruck was perfect in the role of Cameron, I thought, and cracked me up in Spin City. The promo for next week’s Medium showed a clip with Eric Stoltz. He did star in one of my favorite 80s movies of all time. I take it he’s been a visitor to Patricia Arquette before?

If they keep throwing all my favorite 80’s movies stars in the show I may just become a regular!

Alan Ruck! I knew he looked familiar. But no, Eric Stoltz has not been on Medium before, though the character he plays has. The episode was called S.O.S. and the bad guy (Eric, who was not Eric at the time) is psychic like Allison but uses his powers for evil. He *hears* when a woman is in trouble (car broke down, twisted ankle while hiking) and goes to their rescue…and kills them. Ick. Allison put him in jail at the end of the episode but it looks like he gets out next week. With Eric Stoltz’ face! Maybe it’s some kind of new Perpetrator Protection Program. Heh.

Sheila: I seem to be able to spot Ruck quite frequently. Gotta knack for him, maybe b/c I just wanted to rescue him as Cameron. ;) Of course, now that you’ve told me about Stoltz’s character, I may have to skip! I used to LOVE Profiler with Ally Walker, but it would scare the crap outta me. I’d watch it, then have to watch some comedy or something before I could go to sleep. Especially the episodes with her nemesis, Jack (I think).

I like the PPP. :) Like he went off and had plastic surgery so that no one would know who he was. hmmm…. So, he’s like a psychic Ted Bundy? Yeah, that would lose me some serious sleep.

Yep, Sheila’s right again. Just like she was when she said my neice and nephews are cute! I have not missed one episode since Medium started and she is absolutely right about Alan and Eric. Another show that I have seen every single episode of is Supernatural. It is a great show and often has 80’s references in it. Like in one show that guest starred Linda Blair at the end of the show one of the brothers said that he had a strange craving for pea soup.

Doug: Yep, that Sheila, she’s a smart one. :) I’d wanted to watch Supernatural, but never got to it. May have to go back and catch it one day.
