VH1’s Totally Awesome Movie

VH1’s Totally Awesome Movie

VH1’s movie Totally Awesome releases on DVD tomorrow, November 7th. From VH1’s website:

Chappelle’s Show writer/producer/director Neal Brennan makes his feature directorial debut with this retro-minded comedy purported to have been produced in the 1980s but never released until 2006.

I’m sure I’ll probably see it at some point, but I have to get over Chris Kattan being in it first. Of all the creepy weird characters on SNL over the years, that monkey one he used to do in the short shorts still freaks me out.

80s Movies Monday-Best of the Worst #4

80s Movies Monday-Best of the Worst #4

Today’s picks for Best of the Worst of the 80’s movies go to Tammy who writes personally here, and for b5media here. Congratulate her on successfully defending her dissertation, and also for getting back on track with weightloss. Man, I can relate (to the weightloss, not the dissertation). Here are Tammy’s two picks for today and her thoughts on each:
First up, Working Girl starring Melanie Griffith, Sigourney Weaver, and Harrison Ford. Definitely some crazy 80’s fashions going on there. Tammy’s thoughts?
(1988 – girl works her way up from the secretary pool, goes to night school …read more

Good Morning Vietnam

Good Morning Vietnam

Last weekend, I caught Robin Williams‘ latest feature film, Man of the Year. It wasn’t great, wasn’t horrible, and it was a night out at the movies, so I’m not complaining. But I still don’t think it comes close to his performance in Good Morning Vietnam. That has to be one of my favorite movies of all time. An amazing soundtrack, great acting, a good story, and comedy. I love it.
What films would you choose for a Robin Williams night at the movies? Definitely Good Morning Vietnam and Dead Poets Society would be on …read more

I stink at trivia…

I stink at trivia…

I mentioned earlier that I was going to be playing the Trivial Pursuit: Totally 80s game. Last weekend, I got my chance. I’ll tell you what, there’s a whole lot of useless information pertaining to the 80’s! More than I could have imagined. Yeah, I probably did better on it than I would have done playing the original Trivial Pursuit game, but still ended up feeling like an idiot when all was said and done.
I really thought I’d read somewhere that one of the game pieces was a Rubik’s Cube, but no. In fact, this …read more

Van Halen’s Family Affair

Van Halen’s Family Affair

Wolfgang Van Halen, son of Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli, will become the new bassist for Van Halen, at the ripe old age of 15.
From TMZ.com:
Wolfgang replaces longtime bassist Michael Anthony, who left the band earlier this year. Eddie Van Halen’s spokesperson Janie Liszewski tells TMZ that Wolfgang, known as “Wolfie,” has already joined his dad and uncle for rehearsals in the studio for a 2007 summer tour.
Geez, and I thought being first chair in the high school band was cool when I was 15. (No, you’re right, I didn’t really.)
