Phil Collins Featured in Grand Theft Auto

Phil Collins Featured in Grand Theft Auto

There are songs by Phil Collins (and Genesis) that just bring back so many memories for me. You know what I mean, right? A song comes on, and you’re immediately standing in the jr. high cafeteria, nervously dancing with some kid who learned to dance by watching a stop sign sway on a windy day. Ahh…..memories.
Strange to think that some people’s memories are now going to be marked by watching Phil Collins in Grand Theft Auto:Vice City Stories game. At least they’ll still get to experience the classic male pattern baldness, they’ve nailed him on that.

80s Movies Monday-Best of the Worst #3

80s Movies Monday-Best of the Worst #3

The third pick in our Best of the Worst of the 80’s movies series is The Toxic Avenger. This pick is from Cory, who writes for b5media at Baldiness, Supernanny Rules, and House is Right, and personally out at Bald Man Blogging. (In case you’re wondering, he really is bald.)
Here’s Cory’s memory from the movie:
It is bad in so many ways…
Can’t say that I’ve ever seen this one, and not really excited to run out and rent it. Anyone else have thoughts on this one?

Europe’s The Final Countdown

Europe’s The Final Countdown

Yes, I can. I can admit that Europe’s The Final Countdown was one of my favorite 80’s albums. I remember taking my birthday check from my godmother to go out and buy this cassette all on my own. I was so proud to own it. Even as I’m writing this, I can hear the synthesized music streaming through my brain. Too fun.
What’s your favorite big hair band album?

I’m pulling a Ferris Bueller….

I’m pulling a Ferris Bueller….

I get to skip “class” and take a weekend off to Chicago. I should be there when this post comes out. So, if you happen to hear of a middle-aged woman taking over a parade in downtown Chicago while belting out “Danke Schoen” or “Twist and Shout,” you’ll know I’m thinking of all of you. Then watch for me to take off in a red Ferrari.
BTW-I remember them (TV people) trying to do a TV show based off the movie, but I had no recollection of Jennifer Aniston playing the Jennifer Grey role. Crazy.

Name That Tune 80’s Edition

Name That Tune 80’s Edition

I knew that the 80’s edition of Trivial Pursuit was out (I’ll be playing it this weekend!), but I didn’t know there was a Name That Tune 80’s Edition. Man, that would be way fun. Though I’m afraid I’d sit there the whole time trying to play only to have the names of the songs just on the tip of my tongue, while a few people I know would just kick my butt at it.
Has anyone played this edition yet?

Who loves Hoosiers?

Who loves Hoosiers?

Not sure what got me thinking of this movie tonight. Maybe it’s because my head is stuck in the 80’s. Maybe it’s because the crisp autumn air is reminding me that we’re just on the cusp of basketball season (woohoo!).
Whatever the reason, my thoughts are trapped tonight in a small town in Indiana where Gene Hackman and Barbara Hershey are trying not to admit their fondness for each other while standing divided on the necessity of basketball in a young man’s life. And I love Dennis Hopper in this film. He played the role of the …read more

80s Movies Monday-Best of the Worst #2

The second in our weekly pick of the best of the worst of the 80’s movies goes to Weekend at Bernie’s. You remember it, right? The one where Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman lug a dead guy (that they’re pretending is a live guy) around paradise so they can stay out of trouble or something. Gee, how did that plot not inspire Oscar-winning performances?
This pick was submitted by Laura who writes on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome over at CFS Squared. Here’s her thought on the film:
i have seen it lots and lots. but everytime i watch …read more

Fraggle Rock on DVD

Fraggle Rock on DVD

Did you know that Fraggle Rock is now on DVD? I had no idea!
I used to be so jealous of all of my friends who had HBO because they would always come to school talking about the latest funny episode of Fraggle Rock. We would excitedly await the next free HBO weekend so that we could catch up on a few episodes.
And we were never disappointed when we finally got around to seeing them, which wasn’t any big surprise. Who doesn’t love any Muppet-filled Jim Henson production? Except for The Dark Crystal. I never did …read more

Chevy Chase on Law and Order

Chevy Chase on Law and Order

Chevy Chase (Cornelius Crane Chase–who knew?) is set to appear on an upcoming episode of Law and Order (the regular one, no special letters here).
I think Caddyshack is still one of Bald Man’s favorite movies. He’s shocked that I’ve never actually seen it. I’m shocked that he could actually sit through the whole thing. We often have different ideas of what’s funny. Annoying gophers? Not so much for me.
However, it should be fun to see Chevy Chase on L&O. I think I’ve seen every other 80’s star appear on it at some time …read more

Playroom at Madonna’s House

Playroom at Madonna’s House

Like I said, I’ve not kept up much on Madonna’s adoption of David Banda, the 13-month old boy from Malawi. Hsien, however, has kept up enough to know what the playroom that David came home to was filled with. Go here to check out her post about it.
Unbelievable. The 13-month old already has a nicer car than me.
