Lea Thompson on Celebrity Duets

Some Kind of WonderfulOne of my favorite movies of all time is Some Kind of Wonderful. Love it! Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Lea Thompson in a love triangle for all the ages. Why don’t I own this movie?

Anyway, I’m flipping channels tonight and come across Celebrity Duets. Crazy little show hosted by Wayne Brady. I didn’t much like Wayne’s (can I call you Wayne?) talk show, but he does still crack me up.

Where was I? Oh yeah, Lea Thompson. So, there she is on my TV singing her little heart out, bare belly and all. I could make some comment about “at what age should you stop showing your belly,” but, since I’ve NEVER had that flat a belly, I’ll leave it to those of you who have room to talk. So, there she is, and it’s an odd moment seeing her singing up there with Cheech Marin, Alfonso Ribeiro (Hello, Carlton), Carly Patterson, Jai Rodriguez and others. Odd.

Two things I’ve learned from watching a bit of this show (Sorry. Not even for you, my readers, can I sit through the whole show.):

1. I’d still rather watch Lea Thompson in Some Kind of Wonderful or Back to the Future.
2. Celebrities look just as goofy as us regular folk dancing while they karaoke.

Okay, so I lied. I ended up watching the whole darn thing. After performing with Belinda Carlisle, Lea got kicked off the show. But it was way cute seeing her kids in the audience cheering for her.

Bit of Trivia: Lea Thompson, Eric Stoltz, and Mary Stuart Masterson have all appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

If only you had something like a wishlist to keep track of this stuff. Maybe one with a big on-line retailer that your loving-but-unresponsive-to-hints husband could subscribe to, so that when gift giving occasions came around he would have a reminder.

Hmmm… Someone should invent something like that.

Lucky for you that you have a friend that actually does know that you want all this stuff even though you don’t put it on a special list. maybe if your husband would talk to her? Jason really likes that duet show. i have actually never seen it.

[...] I missed Celebrity Duets tonight (not sure how they expect it to compete with Grey’s Anatomy), but it appears that Alfonso Spears Carlton Banks Alfonso Ribeiro is still in the game. He really wasn’t too bad the week that I saw him perform, but I’ve forgotten about the show since. Is anyone keeping up with it? Maybe I’ll check it out tomorrow to see if he made the cut again. [...] Howard the Duck came up when I was watching the extras on the Some Kind of Wonderful (Special Collector’s Edition)DVD. Leah Thompson talks about how she was approached for the film (maybe for the second time? I think she turned it down the first time.) right as Howard the Duck was being released and was totally flopping. That would be nervewracking to agree to help anchor a movie when the last one was so bad. Yikes! [...]

[...] …is that all of the actors from my generation are starting to have episodic parts in it. It is fun to see some of them, but way frustrating when I can’t figure out what they’re from!!! Tonight is one such example. The girl who needs to testify but who is being intimidated was on some sitcom–NO, NO, NO!!!! I just got it!!!!!! She was a younger sister in Some Kind of Wonderful. Whew. Glad I figured that out. I feel better now. Don’t you? [...]
