80’s Hunks on Dancing with the Stars 3
Okay, so Joey Lawrence wasn’t a hunk yet when he was on Gimme a Break, just a cute kid with a mushroom cut. But who knew then that almost 20 years later he would end up competing against A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez to you younguns) in Dancing with the Stars? Craziness.
And what happened to Joey’s awesome hair? Whoa.

If you think about it, making it to dancing with the stars is not really the honor that they try to say it is. For most of them it means they haven’t done much else recently. I personally would prefer to see Mark Paul Gosslar rather than Slater.
Yeah, you’ll notice I didn’t refer to it as an honor. But I may just tune into it for an episode to see them.
oh, i’ll be watching. i love that stuff.
[...] So, I’m reading through my Bloglines feeds, and up comes The 80s Club. (Not surprising, since my wife’s the editor, and she’s sitting in the other room with the laptop.) I find her post on the new season of Dancing with the Stars, and she makes a comment about Joey Lawrence’s hair. I click over to ABC, and BAM! [...]
this subject cracked me up with the Joey Lawrence comments. I don’t know if anyone ever saw it or not but he did an Ice Breakers commercial with Hilary and Hayley Duff.
they both say whoa when they put the mints in their mouth…..and towards the end of the commercial..Joey Lawrence walks by..pops one in his mouth ….stops and yells whoa!!!!! I thought I was going to fall off the couch. It was so pathetic!!!!!!
you mentioned that people who do Dancing with the Stars are ones who have no career…..well if you haven’t done any movies or t.v. in ages and then years later do a mint commercial and say the one ridiculous word that the whole world remembers you saying when you were a teenager…….THEN you know you have no career!!!!
Lisa: I did see that commercial. Didn’t he still have hair in it? I don’t remember making that comment about Dancing with the Stars, though I’m sure I’ve thought it.
But, agreed. Surely there’s SOME project that would boost the careers of these actors. Something, you know, respectable.
[...] For you, my readers, I actually spent a few moments of my life watching this crazy show, again. And I must tell you, Mario Lopez seems as charming, humble and endearing as you might guess he would be. He and his partner were judged pretty harshly by the judges (what do I know? I thought he was awesome!), and he honestly seemed to so seriously consider the critique and take it to heart. Craziness. [...]
