Alfonso Ribeiro on Celebrity Duets

Alfonso Ribeiro on Celebrity Duets

I missed Celebrity Duets tonight (not sure how they expect it to compete with Grey’s Anatomy), but it appears that Alfonso Spears Carlton Banks Alfonso Ribeiro is still in the game. He really wasn’t too bad the week that I saw him perform, but I’ve forgotten about the show since. Is anyone keeping up with it? Maybe I’ll check it out tomorrow to see if he made the cut again.

Trivial Pursuit: 80’s Edition

Trivial Pursuit: 80’s Edition

I can’t believe it! Trivial Pursuit 1980s is out. Yeah, now I’m feeling a bit old.
But check out the game pieces! A Trapper Keeper, Care Bear, a CD, and what looks like a TRS 80 (though I could be wrong there). Too fun!
Go here and you can even try out a few of the sample questions, as well as see some of your favorite 80’s celebs as they look today.
Thanks, Jack, for the heads up! Now, who’s up for a game?
BTW-One way you can tell you’re still stuck in the 80’s: You …read more

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

I thought of Fast Times at Ridgemont High the other day while watching Clifford’s Really Big Movie. Judge Reinhold supplied the voice of one of the animated characters. Can you hear the name “Judge Reinhold” without thinking of this movie?
Who knew, though, that the big star of this flick would turn out to be Sean Penn? True, you still can’t hear “Spicoli” without seeing Sean’s face and hearing his surfer dude talk, but Sean has built his own solid reputation as a phenomenal actor.
Have any of you seen him yet in All The King’s Men?

Lou Diamond Phillips on Numb3rs

Lou Diamond Phillips on Numb3rs

I loved watching Lou Diamond Phillips as Ritchie Valens in La Bamba. Dad was an oldies junkie, and so the music was familiar and fun. Mom’s family is Mexican, and so maybe I thought I was getting a taste of some of their struggles being first generation immigrants trying to fit in to mainstream America. You know, without all the fame and stardom and such. Whatever the case, I love that movie.
I’ve been excited to see Phillips recently appear as Special Agent Ian Edgerton on the CBS drama Numb3rs, which stars Judd Hirsch, David Krumholtz, Rob …read more

Dancing with the Stars-80’s Hunks still in the game

Dancing with the Stars-80’s Hunks still in the game

For you, my readers, I actually spent a few moments of my life watching this crazy show, again. And I must tell you, Mario Lopez seems as charming, humble and endearing as you might guess he would be. He and his partner were judged pretty harshly by the judges (what do I know? I thought he was awesome!), and he honestly seemed to so seriously consider the critique and take it to heart. Craziness.
Joey Lawrence and partner (referred to as the Bald and the Beautiful) performed a quick-step. They pulled in his tap routine from …read more

McDreamy at McDonald’s?

McDreamy at McDonald’s?

Patrick Dempsey was on Good Morning America this, well, morning. I think his visit might have been a bit overshadowed by the debut of TMX Elmo, but it was still cute to watch his interview with Robin Roberts as she adorably refered to him as “Dr. McDreamy.” Also adorable was Patrick saying that McDreamy sounded like something that you could order at McDonald’s. I’m sure that their sales would increase if you could (not that they’re hurting, or anything)! Brings new meaning to the “Pick-Up Window.”

Grease Auditions on Reality TV

Grease Auditions on Reality TV

Okay, so the original film Grease was released in 1978, but we all watched it through the 80’s, right? And, if nothing else, Grease 2 was released in 1982.
So, why do you care about Grease today? Well, there’s apparently a reality TV show in the works that will leave you singing along to your favorite Grease tunes, again…
From TV Blend’s Kelly West:

Fans of the movie and Broadway play Grease will be pleased to learn that BBC Worldwide Productions is putting together a reality show which will allow Broadway hopefuls to audition for the roles of Danny Zuko and …read more

Lea Thompson on Celebrity Duets

Lea Thompson on Celebrity Duets

One of my favorite movies of all time is Some Kind of Wonderful. Love it! Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Lea Thompson in a love triangle for all the ages. Why don’t I own this movie?
Anyway, I’m flipping channels tonight and come across Celebrity Duets. Crazy little show hosted by Wayne Brady. I didn’t much like Wayne’s (can I call you Wayne?) talk show, but he does still crack me up.
Where was I? Oh yeah, Lea Thompson. So, there she is on my TV singing her little heart out, bare belly and …read more

Queen on my iTunes

Queen on my iTunes

Queen’s The Game album is quite possibly my first memory of any album ever.
We were living in Germany (Air Force brats) and my brother got a turntable and The Game for Christmas. I thought he was 8 or 9 years old, but since it’s release date was in 1980, he must have just turned 10.
Anyway, like most of my big bro’s favorite music, I was subjected to listening to this album non-stop. Apparently, this brainwashing was performed during a very impressionable period of my brain’s development (My brain is, too, developed! Hush now and let me finish …read more

Ralphie Grew Up!

Ralphie Grew Up!

Some friends and I hit the movies this summer to see The Breakup with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. Not my favorite flick. It’s not that fun watching people fight in person; not much more fun watching it on the big screen. Glad I only paid for the cheap seats! It was, however, worth the price of admission for the shots of Chicago. Love the Windy City!
“What,” you ask, “does this have to do with Ralphie?” Well, during the opening credits I got the weird feeling that I recongnized someone, but I couldn’t quite …read more
