Sin of Innocence

Sin of Innocence

Kim was talking about a movie, and something about it reminded me of Sin of Innocence. Do you remember this crazy flick?
Two teenagers are thrown into siblinghood (I make up words, by the way. Sorry if I forgot to warn you earlier.) when their parents marry. First, they hate each other. Then they love each other. A little too much.
Crazy little movie, but everyone seems to remember it! Maybe because it’s the first time we recall laying our eyes on Dermot Mulroney. He’s aging quite well, don’t you think?

Pop Rocks Rock!

Pop Rocks Rock!

I love Pop Rocks! I was so excited to see them again recently. Though I’m not sure why the most reliable place for me to find Pop Rocks is at Jo-Ann Fabrics. Odd.
But the best part is getting to introduce my kids to them. They get a kick out of the feeling, almost as much as I do. Too fun. Although KFC almost beat me to the punch when they paired Pop Rocks with Mott’s Applesauce in their kids’ meals. We never had cool stuff like that!
But you will not find me trying …read more

The Brat Pack set on DVD

The Brat Pack set on DVD

Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science all in the same DVD set. What could be better?
My friend just got in town and brought this with her (because I bought it for her for Christmas and then said, “Hey, can you bring that with you when you come into town?” Self-serving, I know, but she does truly love these movies, too. Not like I’m torturing her here, people.)
Now, if they had only included Pretty in Pink as well. That’s one of my favorites, despite my loathing of pink.
Which is your favorite Brat Pack flick?

American Top 40 with Casey Kasem

American Top 40 with Casey Kasem

I was driving my daughter to swim lessons the last few Saturdays and turned on the radio to hear Casey Kasem announcing American Top 40!
One of our local radio stations, WMMX, replays what, apparently, is the American Top 40 Flashback production. Wow. Listening to that brought me right back to sitting in my childhood bedroom, listening to my big black boombox (or was that one silver?), hoping that my parents wouldn’t assign some chore to me that would prevent me from hearing “This week’s number one song…”
Now, I don’t know if I could name any of the top …read more

Classic Mattel Football Game

Classic Mattel Football Game

I remember this game so well. It’s like I saw it yesterday…
Actually, I did see it yesterday, because my two year old was trying to play it! No kidding. I think this was my older brother’s first electronic game, along with the baseball version. He would play them for hours, never giving me a turn.
Somehow, it ended up in my house, and the crazy thing still works! (I can’t get a cordless phone that will keep a charge for more than 30 minutes, but this thing is still going strong!) I have a feeling …read more

Who’s Johnny?

Who’s Johnny?

To be honest, until today I thought El Debarge was the name of the band, and not a member of the band called Debarge. Sorry. Good thing I do a little research here.
It doesn’t, however, change the fact that, “Who’s Johnny?” has been stuck in my head for 24 hours! At least it’s a fun song.
What 80’s songs remain on your brain once you’ve heard them?

VH1 80’s Trivia

VH1 80’s Trivia

Are you up for a little 80’s trivia? Head on over to VH1’s Online Arcade to test your 80’s Trivia memory. I seemed to retain more as the 80’s went on. Let me know how you do!
And don’tcha just love the joystick? Ahh…memories….of having to try to seperate it from my mother’s hands when she got addicted to Pac-Man….

Patrick Dempsey Back at the Mall

Patrick Dempsey Back at the Mall

So, I was at the mall yesterday (not, I am no longer a mallrat, just happen to be there with the fam) and was startled by Patrick Dempsey staring at me from what used to be Lerner’s (now New York & Co.).
Now, I shouldn’t have been startled, because Ingrid told us all about their new ad campaign at Grey’s Anatomy News in June. I, however, missed that post and was startled by Dr. McDreamy.
I did find it funny, however, that he was the voyeuristic one back in the 80’s staring at beauties in the mall, trying to buy their …read more

Welcome back…

Welcome back…

So, I started to write that title and the theme song to Welcome Back, Kotter immediately started playing in my head. I know, I know, that is technically a 70’s show, but it’s a good jumping off point for our journey back to the 80’s.
I’m Kerri, and I’ll be your new guide here through jelly bracelets, rolled-up jeans, The Brat Pack, and all else 80’s inspired. You can also find me writing at another b5media blog, Play Library, and at my personal blog.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey, share your memories, correct mine, and have a …read more
