Endangered Species
During the 1980s, many species became endangered enough to be put on the list of species protected by the Endangered Species Act. The totals rose from 49 species in 1980 to 112 species in 1989. Concern for destruction of habitat, and the welfare of species held in captivity, was and continues to be a passion for many people.
People from all walks of life, and passionate about any sort of pursuits, lend their support to many causes and philanthropic endeavors to protect endangered species. As I mentioned in a post elsewhere, Scarlet Quince (a cross stitch company) has released a new elephant pattern, and is donating 20% of the proceeds from sales of this pattern to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. If elephants aren’t your thing, but you want to investigate a way to support people in their efforts to save wildlife, a quick search on Google will yield many results for endangered species charities.
