WKRP in Cincinnati
This is a show I remember, (though not with enough detail to name characters), and in doing a little research I understand why. WKRP in Cincinnati ran from 1978 – 1982 (barely qualifying it for an 80s show). I was a little more interested in plotting ways to acquire The Lone Ranger’s horse than I was in sit-coms.
I do remember these characters, especially after jogging my memory with a few images from the show:
Dr. Johnny Fever (played by Howard Hesseman), a burned-out veteran of the radio industry. Cynical, neurotic and almost always hung-over, he is usually in one sort of trouble or another.
…
Fastidious, bow-tied news reporter Les Nessman (played by Richard Sanders) approaches his job with absurd seriousness, despite the fact that he is almost completely incompetent. source: wikipedia
WKRP was a great show, even with my fuzzy recollections of it. I am not alone in believing this one to have been good all the way through. 282 people so far say that WKRP never Jumped the Shark.
It’s a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite television program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on… it’s all downhill. Some call it the climax. We call it jumping the shark. -Jump the Shark.com
